The grandmother brings the kids all their meals and after a while she starts bringing them powdered donuts (in the movie it was cookies). The mom tells the kids that they will only have to stay up there for a week or two while she charms her father back into loving her and putting her back in his will. Her mother agrees to let her come home but on the condition that they not tell her husband (meaning the kids' grandfather) that the kids exist. After her husband died, she was totally broke so she wrote to her parents asking them for help.

For those of us who read the creepy incest series Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews in middle school, Lifetime has finally decided to make Garden of Shadows into a four part limited series (they made the first four books into movies starring Heather Graham as Corrine and Kiernan Shipka/Rose McIver as Cathy in 2014 & 2015) aka now that they've sucked the Audrina/Heaven/Ruby well dry (the Dawn series is coming soon!).Īpparently they can't rely on people knowing the title of the prequel (Garden of Shadows) so the series will be called Flowers in the Attic: The Origin.
